Manager - Trade Compliance & Classification Strategy
Job Responsibilities
1. HS Code Governance & Framework Development
Develop and maintain the global HS Code governance framework across MR.DIY markets.
Ensure consistent classification standards, documentation practices and data structures across countries.
Strengthen controls and processes to improve classification accuracy and audit readiness.
2. Productivity & Capability Development
Work with the HS Code Management Team to improve operational productivity and service delivery.
Identify capability gaps within the classification team and support development of internal expertise.
Encourage stronger internal judgment capability so teams move beyond “messenger-style coordination” toward informed trade decision making.
3. Gap Analysis & Improvement Initiatives
Conduct periodic gap analysis on HS Code operations, classification governance and trade data quality.
Propose and lead improvement initiatives to address operational inefficiencies and compliance risks.
Collaborate with operational teams to implement improvements and track results.
4. Trade Data Accuracy & Governance
Establish robust trade data governance practices for HS Code and compliance information.
Improve data quality across classification records, import declarations and regulatory documentation.
Ensure trade data supports efficient customs clearance and reduces post-audit exposure.
5. Digitalization & Automation
Lead digital initiatives related to HS Code and trade data management.
Work with CoE and IT teams to build structured digital databases and workflow systems.
Prepare the organization for future AI-assisted HS Code classification capabilities.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
Influence and collaborate with local import teams, purchasers and logistics teams to improve classification practices.
Support alignment between operational teams and CoE strategic initiatives.
7. Scalable Operating Model
Design scalable trade data management frameworks capable of supporting rapid SKU growth and expansion into new markets.
Ensure processes remain efficient as MR.DIY continues to scale globally.
Job Requirements
Experience
At least 7 years of experience in trade compliance, customs operations, or HS Code management.
Experience in process transformation, digitalization or operational improvement initiatives.
Exposure to multi-country trade operations preferred.
Skills
Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
Ability to conduct operational gap analysis
Experience leading transformation or improvement initiatives
