The Regulatory Strategy & Product Compliance Assistant Manager oversees both day-to-day product compliance operations (BAU) and strategic regulatory initiatives across EU markets. This role ensures that all products meet applicable regulatory, safety, environmental, and quality requirements while strengthening compliance frameworks, improving regulatory workflows, and proactively mitigating compliance risks. The position plays a key role in maintaining regulatory readiness, optimizing compliance processes, and supporting business operations through effective compliance governance.
Responsibilities
BAU Product Compliance Oversight
Oversee day-to-day product compliance operations to ensure products meet all applicable EU regulatory, safety, environmental, and quality requirements.
Ensure compliance with EU regulatory frameworks including CE marking, REACH, RoHS, and other relevant product directives.
Review product documentation, certifications, and regulatory requirements prior to importation and distribution.
Conduct regulatory risk assessments for new products, product modifications, and regulatory updates.
Monitor compliance performance and proactively identify potential risks or non-compliance issues.
Regulatory Strategy & Compliance Leadership
Support the development and execution of regulatory compliance strategies for EU markets.
Identify opportunities to improve regulatory readiness, strengthen compliance governance, and mitigate regulatory risks.
Provide strategic insights and recommendations to management on regulatory requirements and compliance planning.
Ensure regulatory alignment between business operations and applicable EU regulatory frameworks.
Regulatory Intelligence & Market Monitoring
Stay up-to-date with EU regulatory developments and assess their potential impact on product compliance and operations.
Conduct regulatory research to identify compliance risks and emerging regulatory trends.
Maintain and enhance a centralized regulatory knowledge base to support internal stakeholders.
Translate regulatory insights into actionable recommendations for relevant business teams.
Process Optimization & Compliance Initiatives
Lead initiatives to improve compliance processes, reduce regulatory lead times, and enhance compliance efficiency.
Develop and implement frameworks, templates, and SOPs to standardize compliance processes.
Track and monitor KPIs related to compliance performance and regulatory initiatives.
Identify workflow inefficiencies and implement solutions to strengthen compliance governance.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management
Work closely with cross-functional teams including Legal, Local Import Teams, HQ Purchasing, Logistics, and Operations to ensure regulatory alignment.
Provide advisory support to business units on EU regulatory requirements and compliance risks.
Collaborate with external consultants and regulatory authorities when required.
Drive proactive resolution of compliance issues to prevent operational disruptions.
Team Leadership & Capability Building
Guide and mentor team members on regulatory compliance processes and best practices.
Provide training and knowledge sharing on EU regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks.
Promote a proactive compliance culture focused on prevention, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
Degree in Science, Regulatory Affairs, International Trade, Law, or related disciplines.
5–8 years of experience in regulatory affairs or product compliance, preferably with EU market exposure.
Strong understanding of EU product regulations, including CE marking, REACH, RoHS, and related standards.
Familiarity with customs procedures, HS code, and import compliance frameworks is an advantage.
Proven experience managing compliance operations and regulatory improvement initiatives.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and compliance documentation management.
Fluent in written and spoken English and Mandarin.
