Assistant Manager - Logistics Controller
Key Responsibilities
1. Operational Leadership & Problem Solving (Core Focus)
• Lead Daily Operations: Lead and oversee day-to-day logistics operations for international import and export activities, ensuring strict compliance with local laws and international regulations.
• Crisis Management: Act as the primary escalation point to proactively address and resolve escalated logistics challenges (e.g., shipping disputes, customs hold-ups, 3PL failures). You are expected to independently analyze the root cause and resolve these issues to minimize business disruption.
• Specialized Cargo: Oversee the planning and execution of deliveries for regulated commodities (e.g., FDA, CE compliance) to ensure legal and procedural adherence.
• Benchmarks: Establish performance benchmarks for logistics operations and ensure consistent adherence across regions.
2. Team Guidance & Stakeholder Management
• Mentorship: Mentor and guide junior team members, providing training and support to build a high-performing logistics team. You are expected to foster a culture of independent thinking, moving the team away from relying solely on instructions.
• Stakeholder Alignment: Act as a central point of contact for internal teams and external stakeholders, including suppliers, logistics partners, and government agencies.
3. Process Optimization (COE Collaboration)
• Business Requirement Definition: Identify operational bottlenecks and define clear "Business Requirements" for the Center of Excellence (COE) to build digital solutions. You will bridge the gap between operational needs and technical implementation.
• Change Management: Drive the adoption of new digital tools within the team. Ensure that once the COE delivers a solution, the team transitions effectively from manual to digital workflows.
• Data & Strategy: Collaborate with the Logistics Manager to define strategies that improve shipment planning and cost efficiency, ensuring that system data accurately reflects operational reality.
Requirements
• Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Logistics, Supply Chain, International Business).
• Experience: At least 3-5 years of working experience in global trading / Import & Export.
• Mindset: Mature independent thinker with the ability to "think out of the box" for problem-solving. Must be able to challenge the status quo constructively.
• Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Microsoft Excel (Intermediate/Advanced skills such as Pivot Table, VLOOKUP). Experience with system implementation or UAT is an added advantage.
• Language: Proficient in English (spoken and written) for effective coordination with suppliers and internal stakeholders; Mandarin proficiency is an advantage.
• Soft Skills: Good interpersonal skills, detail-oriented, self-driven, and flexible to change.
